<p>Welcome to this course "ERP: Theory, Practice, and Configuration. ERP or ERP systems are short for Enterprise Resource Planning systems. This Course is an cooperation between CCEC ( Competence Center eCommerce) and Nexedi - a french provider of open source software developments and consulting services. It is Nexedi which developed the course ideas and content, and together we are now trying to further develop the course and the study materials in the direction of rich multi- media setting, which addresses both theory and practice.</p>
<p>This visual guide is part of a collection of documents created by the One Student One ERP (OSOE) project in collaboration with Institut Mines Telecom, Telecom Bretagne, Dresden University of Technology, CCEC (Competence Center eCommerce), and the South Westfalia University of Applied Sciences. <p>This course is composed of two stages.</p><li>In the first stage, you will learn what an ERP is, what universal business processes are involved in an ERP system, and how to identify them when you are using an ERP system. You will not only have theoretical knowledge about different functions and components of an ERP system, but also have the opportunity to actually practice on your own ERP system (demonstrated with ERP5).</li>
<li>In the second stage, you will need to use the knowledge you gained in the previous stage to perform a ERP category configuration as a real consultant for an implementation filed ( a company) of your choice. You will need to interview a company of your choice with the help of ERP5 questionnaire to analyse this company's business, identify its important business processes, recognise the needs for improvements, and find out by yourself how an ERP system could help this company to achieve greater success.</li>
<p>Thus, at this point of time, you should already start to look for a company that is willing to share its business with you, and in return, gain more insights about its business processes and potential for improvements. Note: you need to look for a company that hasn't been using an ERP system.</p>
