      sched_clock: Remove sched_clock_func() hook · b4042cea
      Stephen Boyd authored
Nobody is using sched_clock_func() anymore now that sched_clock
supports up to 64 bits. Remove the hook so that new code only
      uses sched_clock_register().

      arch_timer: Move to generic sched_clock framework · 65cd4f6c
      Stephen Boyd authored
Register with the generic sched_clock framework now that it
supports 64 bits. This fixes two problems with the current
sched_clock support for machines using the architected timers.
First off, we don't subtract the start value from subsequent
sched_clock calls so we can potentially start off with
sched_clock returning gigantic numbers. Second, there is no
support for suspend/resume handling so problems such as discussed
in 6a4dae5e (ARM: 7565/1: sched: stop sched_clock() during
suspend, 2012-10-23) can happen without this patch. Finally, it
allows us to move the sched_clock setup into drivers clocksource
      out of the arch ports.

      Merge branch 'clockevents/3.13' of git://git.linaro.org/people/dlezcano/linux into timers/core · a44eb870
      Ingo Molnar authored
Pull ARM clocksource/clockevents updates from Daniel Lezcano:

        * Will Deacon and Sudeep KarkadaNagesha implemented the event stream
for architected timer. The event streams can be used to impose a
timeout on a wfe, to safeguard against any programming error in case
an expected event is not generated or even to implement wfe-based
timeouts for userspace locking implementations. Some files fall
under the arm maintainers' umbrella but those changes have been
reviewed and acked by the relevant people (Catalin Marinas and Olof
          Johansson).

        * Boris Brezillon improved the tcb_clksrc driver by removing a
deprecated flag, checking return code values and using functions
          from the common clock framework.

ARM: Kconfig: allow full nohz CPU accounting · 31c1fc81
      Kevin Hilman authored
With the 64-bit requirement removed from VIRT_CPU_ACCOUNTING_GEN,
allow ARM platforms to enable it. Since VIRT_CPU_ACCOUNTING_GEN is a
dependency for full NO_HZ, this allows ARM platforms to enable full
      NO_HZ as well.

nohz: Drop generic vtime obsolete dependency on CONFIG_64BIT · ff3fb254
      Kevin Hilman authored
The CONFIG_64BIT requirement on vtime can finally be removed
since we now depend on HAVE_VIRT_CPU_ACCOUNTING_GEN which
already takes care of the arch ability to handle nsecs based
      cputime_t safely.

      vtime: Add HAVE_VIRT_CPU_ACCOUNTING_GEN Kconfig · 554b0004
      Kevin Hilman authored
      With VIRT_CPU_ACCOUNTING_GEN, cputime_t becomes 64-bit. In order
to use that feature, arch code should be audited to ensure there are no
races in concurrent read/write of cputime_t. For example,
      reading/writing 64-bit cputime_t on some 32-bit arches may require
multiple accesses for low and high value parts, so proper locking
is needed to protect against concurrent accesses.

Therefore, add CONFIG_HAVE_VIRT_CPU_ACCOUNTING_GEN which arches can
enable after they've been audited for potential races.

This option is automatically enabled on 64-bit platforms.

      Feature requested by Frederic Weisbecker.
